New Hobby

Assalamualaikum, and howdy to all.
I've been quiet for the while because I've currently in the process of re-learning the crochet (one of my hobby (when I was small)) and learning how to  knit. I've bought some yarns. I get the itch to crochet agan when I found the diagram to crochet a rose. So, I bought about 27 skeins of Nona acrylic yarns and few crochet hooks. and I start on the same day crocheting. I also found my long lost (5-year-old) Minlon nylon yarns. A purple and a chocolate one. I still cannot find my blue nylon yarns (now where did I put it....???)
Apart from that, I also bought online some yarns. Mostly Ice yarns. Here the pics for you to enjoy.
On the left are my first purchase online for yarns at http://hazeleaf.yarnshopping.com . Total of purchase mmm... about RM40 plus shipping to Malaysia from Turkey. So, roughly one skeins will be about RM5 each. It is made from 100% cotton, mercerised. I'm attracted to the colouring. 50grams/skein; about 150 yards if I'm not mistaken.

On the right is  my purchase with Ms Aisyah Helga from Pulau Tioman, also bought online. She is the owner of My Tinker Space and hazeleaf. The Himalayan yarn is RM11, and the Ice Yarns Thin Chennile 50grams. Buttons are free (gift from Ms Aisyah).

These Japanese yarns I bought at Daiso in Jusco Bukit Indah. RM5/skeins. The fluffy one is made from nylon (amazing what a nylon can look like, isn't it?)

And the 5 small one is weight at 25grams each. Made from cotton. Lace weight

Ehem, now this is my long lost Minlon nylon yarn which have been turn into a WIP (my CAL in YLM group in Facebook). Now I'm not only playing games on FB but also interacting with others. So much fun!

Huhuhuhu... I promise myself not to buy another skeins of yarns  untill my stock have lowered somewhat but it is a temptation when I look at the colourings. At first, these are out of stock but a few days letter, Cotton House Store announce that they have restock the acrylic series... there goes my money... :(
But I have a marvelous yarns to play with! Weights at 45grams each and about 150mts. It has a nice sheen to it which make my rose kinda cheery. :D

The yarns on the far left is made from 100% cotton, the beige is made from 100% silk (200mtrs/skein! named ammonio silk. whatever that means) and the yellow yarns is made from 80% cotton:20% polyester (very light and velvety to the touch!400mtr/skein!). All are in 50grams skeins each. I have to buy them in lot. 1 lot = 8 skeins or 6 skeins (depends).
This time I bought it from Sindar Ery's online Ice yarn shop (www.daknit.com). Total of RM111.92 inc shipping from Turkey. More/less about RM4.70/skein.

Okay, That's all for today... Have a nice day!

The ingredients for craftings

Hello everyone,
Here the bits n pieces I've bought online for starting my craftings.
This one is from MyBotanG from Japan.
How to insert her website yea??? mmm I'm new here.

Olfa Rotary cutter; one of my dream tools. Mine at last!

And this one from Biz De Cottage Shoppe. Starter pack kit. A set for RM25 + RM6 for postage.

This is the button making kit I'm searching for my whole life. Only now I can get hold of it. I bought it online at Edina Shaharuddin. Must buy more buttons kit for my mother n sister.
For RM17.(more less) + refill button (RM5.50 for 50pcs 15mm size) + RM6 (postage)
Testing the kit. Much nicer if we put backing/lining at the back of fabrics. Looks more solid.

Well, that's all for now. I'll upload more of my new yarn stash I just bought recently. Nona yarns for crochet making. What else? I've try to find Minlon yarns here in Malaysia but it is hard to find. So, I resort to online yarn shop. What a choice! I'll tell you about it later. See ya!

Arts n crafts store hunting

Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri to all muslims and all humans on the earth.
I am quite busy in the whole month of Ramadhan with my daughters. Especially my baby. She catch fever quite often. This year is a hot Ramadhan. Alhamdulillah, it is over with the bout of sickness. Last of the fever, she catch the chicken pox. And it was on the day before Syawal up until 3 hari raya. Well, let just say that I'm not really enjoy this year hari raya-merdeka day. 1stly because my husband had to work on 1st & 2nd Hari raya day. then my baby with her fever.
Now it all have passed. I'm back to my routine. I've something on my mind. My sister will gave birth to her daughter, her firstborn, end of this September. And my sister-in-law next. So I'm planning to make something for their baby. I also planning to make a smocking dress for Ariyyan. Too ambitious, isn't it?
So, I scoured the internet looking for raw material as I want to make the dress from scratch. I also don't know where to search the brick-and-mortar shop for sewing materials. the nearest that I know was in Taman Johor Jaya, but it has burnt down to ashes in a big fire long time ago. 2nd nearest is in Singapore, but that that is not an option.
I'm an avid fan of MyBotanG. The owner told me where to search for my supplies. She suggest Craft Supplies Malaysia in Facebook. There I found Edina whom I bought the button making kit. ahhh... so happy when I first received my kit. The ease of shopping without having to waste my fuel. So, the next step is acquiring some FIMO clays. Also some felts and non slip cloth. I think I can get the non slip cloth either at Kamdar or at Jakel. So, wait till I upload my pictures of the raw material. Until then, ... happy crafting!

Ramadhan

Greetings! Today is the 4th day we Muslim fasting in Malaysia. I'm very exhausted already. About another 2hour  and 45minutes before breaking fast. Almost depleted of energy.. so, I'll stay low. thinking of making a handbag for my daughter. My firstborn was given a handbag by her aunt Rini. So her sister Shakirah keep on coveting the handbag. I need to settle this soon before the handbag breaks into two parts. But where do I start?

Hello Everyone!

Testing! Testing 1 2 3...
 Ehem.... well, here we go...

I love gardening, gadgets n tools, electronics and crafting. Some of the things I've  made on my own are my bookshelves, a rack for my oven and few things here n there. I also love to fix anything by my own if I can...

In crafting, I love sewing, carpentry and jewelry making. I have beginner skill in sewing. To me, cutting a plywood is easier than cutting a cloth. A wide one at that.  usually, whatever I design will be sewed by my skillful mother. I admire her. & her skills. She can sew anything. From dresses to curtains, and even reupholstering a car seat. I wish I can be as skillful as her. Some of my interest in crafting also comes from watching her. She can make flowers from ribbons, fabric or even natural resources such as fir cones, rubber tree leaves and so on... she made it from scratch. She can also do Dip Flowers which is a crave now. In fact she had done it years before it popular.

Now back to me.. in search of a perfect cotton cloth to buy, I have come across so many blog. And reading the blog, inspired me to re-pursue my passion in sewing. However, there's not a single place where I can get professional training in sewing. Any suggestion?
